Have you ever wondered what your personality labels mean about you?

Everyone has many personality labels yet most of us resist being labeled. Over a lifetime, we each will have hundreds of labels because we have unique life experiences. The main way that we learn our labels is from others. We generally resist these learnings as it feels that the labels have a negative connotation. Yet most of our labels are positive and negative at the same time.

We each love to learn about ourselves. But we pretend that we don’t want to know. It is the same maneuver we use to view a group picture that includes us. While oohing and aahing over all the other group members, we are secretly gazing at ourselves. Most of the labels used by counselors are unknown by clients.

Have you started a path of self-discovery?

It is estimated by the age of 21, each of us has acquired 20,000 hours of negative self-talk. Learn to listen to the voices in your head. Whatever you are thinking is what you are feeling. By learning our personality traits, we can determine the positives about ourselves and change the negative thoughts to positive ones.

Personality study is a type of psychology that has found the study of personality traits to be a valuable indicator of behavioral choices. Each of the psychological groups (cognitive, psychoanalytic, humanist, behavioral, existential, transpersonal, or social development) use personality indicators.

Do you want to help others to better understand themselves?

The Changemaker Test offers education for self-discovery as Changemaker believes that the change within a person involves the courage to see (insight) and the courage to act (action). The Changemaker Test will teach anyone 10 labels about themselves. Therefore, by using the labels to change themselves, the changemaker is the person who decides to learn and make the change happen.

This test is meant to be the starting point for self-discovery. With the complete test, answers and explanations, anyone can test their friends and family. Also anyone who has compassion for others, can use these materials to begin discussion groups of persons interested in self-discovery.

Would you like an easy entry into organizing small groups of others interested in self-healing?

You can use the Changemaker Test Package (available at answersbyemail.com) to start Changemaker groups. The sharing of similarities and differences of personality indicators among the group will quickly establish a level of trust and belonging among the members. After the group learns his/her individual labels, all the group can then choose to move on to other topics that will be decided by all group members

The Changemaker Test, which is meant as a vehicle for self-discovery, includes the labels used in NLP (neurolinguistic programming), birth order, family roles, emotional energies, and MBTI (Myers Briggs Type Indicator). Also included are the labels for the Big Five Test, enneagram, and transactional analysis.

Why are small groups the best learning place for self-discovery?

Changemaker Groups provide short-term specialized direction and solutions to help others to better understand themselves and ourselves. With this direction and self-knowledge others will learn to implement techniques designed to lead to greater self-mastery.

Groups are the recognized best method for people to gain information and acceptance from others. One of the main underpinings of AA is that all members are peers. Anyone has the opportunity to share and to be heard.

The following quotation by Tom Rusk is what we believe, also.

“The closest thing to a cure for most forms of serious psychological suffering is a permanent change in the way one conducts one’s life–and the changes in feeling and self-concept that occur as part of that process.”

Changemaker is a company that is committed to the basic belief that each person has the opportunity for self-discovery and the potential for self-healing. As individuals, we sometimes choose paths that may be harmful to us. To get off that path and onto a new road takes exploration and experimentation.

The Changemaker Test offers education for self-discovery as we believe that the change within a person involves the courage to see (insight) and the courage to act (action). The test will teach anyone 10 or more labels about themselves. Therefore, by using the labels to change themselves, the changemaker is the person who decides to learn and make the change happen.

With the purchase of this test and all the answers, anyone interested in helping others to learn about themselves can start a Changemaker Group. Guidelines for monitoring groups, contents for structured groups, quotations for motivation, statistics about the group, suggested times for group, group size, help in helping others to professional guidance, etc. are included in the Changemaker Groups site.

Groups are the recognized best method for people to gain information and acceptance from others. One of the main underpinings of AA is that all members are peers. Anyone has the opportunity to share and to be heard.

In Changemaker groups, the group leader leads only by getting the group together. By caring for others, the group members can learn as well as teach self-discovery. The group leader/leaders may choose to charge or ask for donations to pay for the meeting room and materials. To lead education groups, Changemaker groups, the only requirement for the business is to have an occupational license to run a business. Changemaker groups are not therapy groups so no other license is required.

Healing begins when, in spite of all the negative self-talk going on inside a person, that person feels someone caring and loving them for no apparent reason. This unconditional love comes in spite of attempts to search for a motive.

Our intent in offering this information is that the information will be used to benefit others. Always be aware that persons seeking information about themselves or others may need professional guidance. In fact, we have experienced the terrible toll of living with depression and/or substance abuse. We completely believe in and are grateful for psychiatrists.

Only psychiatrists and/or medical doctors can prescribe medication for mental health. Psychologists sometimes will tell a patient that the patient doesn’t need medication without being honest with the patient and revealing that they can’t prescribe medication. So it is patient be aware! Of course, many psychologists will refer their patients/clients/customers to the medical profession for medication. If a beneficial relationship between psychologist and client exists, the client can still be referred to medical doctor for medication only.

Changemaker believes that the patient has to be very self-educated about these problems. With the education, the patient/client/customer can then choose his/her medical team. Remember the doctors work for the patient.

When you hire your professional, always receive a free consultation to see how you feel with this professional. At this first meeting, ask the professional for a diagnosis as you would expect from any other medical professional.

Also ask for the plan for recovery; such as, how many sessions may be needed and how much this will cost. If you unable to get any clear direction, be aware that the treatment will probably be long and costly if the professional has no clear direction. Be sure to read our post entitled: “How to Know if You Need Therapy”.

Addiction treatment by the medical model means that an addict is “sick” and that someone else knows how to get that addict “well”. In reality, each person has a part of themselves that is perfect and was given to them at birth.

The basic problem with the medical model of addiction recovery is that the medical field calls someone “well” by sending them to take classes about symptoms and this determines the level of “help” that the “well” person will be able to give.

The reality of any emotional/mental help is that the healer can’t help beyond his/her level of recovery. We are all wounded healers but growth only happens after surrender to the need for recovery.

What other field of medicine focuses mainly or only on the symptoms? I mean, where is the cure? Certainly a label can help by identifying what information is needed to lead to a cure. But how does telling someone that they are in denial help that person to understand that their thinking is faulty?

Denial is not about lying but about someone not knowing the truth. Isn’t it more helpful to say that an addict is someone using a learned pattern of behavior to deal with uncomfortable feelings? If there are problems because of the addiction, then the learned pattern has to be given up and a new pattern of behavior has to be chosen for the energy used to be a positive for the addict.

In other words, some of the main issues in addiction treatment are maturity issues. The age at which a person started drinking, using, eating, buying, being overpowering to others, using sex, etc. is the emotional age he/she still is. If he/she started at age 15, which is pretty normal, then he/she is age 14 emotionally.

So recovery is generally about growing up. Another main issue of why people are addictive is to continue to live life in their head or in their imagination. No one knows reality–we only have a perception of reality.

As the hero in 10 Million Ways to Die says, “I never knew that I lived in a world that I hadn’t created..” That is why the addict experiences such anger at having to give up the addiction. The addict believes that his/her using only affects him/her and is no one else’ business. In reality, the addiction is affecting everyone in the addict’s life.
In the self-discovery model of group healing, everyone in the group is a student. The sharing of power in relationships defines the health of the relationship. No hierarchy is needed when people enter groups to help each other. The leadership of the group can be shared by all on a rotation basis.
The group members in the self-discovery group must agree to follow guidelines that the group chooses. The main goal of the group should be short-term with the idea of splitting up to form new groups. Some people may choose to recycle–repeat the same group–before branching out to their own group. After 2-3 times recycling, the other group members may help with the formation of new group to a group member who needs more support.

The Mental Health Institute claims 20% of the population suffers from mental illness. These people generally can benefit from mental health counseling. In America, with all our wealth, many of these poor souls wander our streets as the homeless. They have no medical insurance so mental health care is a sometime thing. Since most of the population isn’t mentally ill, education groups can be a great source of comfort and growth for those not needing therapy.

Changemaker uses other books as the resource for some of the basic plan. We have spend 30 years researching, enjoying, and implementing self-help, exercise, diet, food program, spiritual, emotional, mental, psychology and addiction books. We have developed recommendations for addiction and recovery topics which are included on this blog, Changemaker.

However, we are now more focused on holistic healing—helping others to develop mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. So the Changemaker Plan includes the books we have found that have proved to be significant to become our “textbooks”.

For several years, the popular book market have had many books—most of which is helpful. Changemaker didn’t want to add to the plethora of such books available by writing another book. Instead we have adopted a few to add to our core plan. Our core basis for the Changemaker Library is currently 34 books. On another password-protected blog, we are developing a comprehensive data base for these 34 books with guides available linking the information in each book by topic.

For the Changemaker ebook and its password-protected blog, Changemaker Online, you will receive the following:

1) The Changemaker Weight Loss Program which includes food program tips and guidelines. From these food ideas, you will design your weight loss plan around the food that you most enjoy. Portion control is the only guideline that we advocate. This means counting the calories. To help you design your plan, we recommend developing an extensive list of 100-200 servings of all your favorite foods. Don’t sabotage yourself by including foods that you know you won’t control. I haven’t had cereal in my home for 5 years because I know I will eat it until it is empty.

2) A modified exercise program will be chosen by you from five exercise books that teach you how to exercise. Also included are references to test that should be taken before, after, and during exercise.

3) Mental techniques from many sources are included to begin helping you to listen to your negative self-talk.

4) Emotional support is introduced with deep breathing techniques, meditation, becoming centered to begin helping you to learn how to substitute relaxation for stress. Everyone experiences stress but staying in the stressful state is a choice.

5) The Changemaker Personality Profile Test is included. It has all the 25 personality labels for the test. With this information, you can help others to better understand themselves. The test includes NLP (neurolinguistic programming), MBTI (Myers Briggs Type Indicator), family roles, emotional energy types, and birth order. Included are many links to websites giving more information about each of the personality test categories. Also included are links for the Big Five Test, the enneagram and the Holland Test.

6) The basic goal of the Changemaker Program is to help you to help others. The best gift I have received during my recovery that began in 1976 is the ability to forget about myself while helping others. So the plan includes techniques to help you set up your own small groups. In the phenomenal change in Protestant religion today in the United States and throughout the world is the realization that we need small groups–the community—to feel connected.

7) All these tools will be what you will use to create your won healing sessions for you and/or for your group. The sessions are developed by you and for you and will include: emotional, mental, physical (food and exercise), meditation, relaxation, as well as individual topics techniques. The individual topics are unique with each session.

Technorati Tags : weightloss, exercise, mental, emotional, personality, links, recovery, food, portion

The Changemaker basic beliefs are:

(1) Anyone can get on the wrong road in human growth,

(2) Getting on the right road takes patience and exploration,

(3) Small groups are invaluable support in human growth,

(4) Healing comes from accepting spiritual guidance and direction,

(5) Everyone involved in helping others to grow needs his/her individual path of growth and is free to share it with others,

(6) Letting go and letting God means stepping out into an emotional void,

(7) As well as an individual growth program, each healer needs compassion and understanding.

(8) No healer can help guide beyond his/her individual path of growth.

(9) There is neither hierarchy in spiritual growth nor any ladder to climb or rank to achieve. We are each pilgrims with our own life issues.

(10) Life issues are with us throughout our earthly existence. That is why they are called life lessons. However, they do get slightly less painful if we do the work necessary.
